Psych of Mind | What is the Weight of Your Glass? | EdgeZaroo

“Sometimes ago a professor of brain and psychology moved around on a Hall while teaching S.M.P (stress management principles) to Hall filled with listeners. When a glass of water was raised by her, everyone in the Hall expected She might ask the typical Question ‘Whether the glass is half empty or glass is half full’. But instead, with a slight smile on her face, she asked, ‘What is the weight of glass of water I’m holding in my hand?’

Students yelled out their respective answers ranging from eight ounces to a couple pounds.

The Professor again replied, ‘According to my perspective, the weight of this glass doesn’t matter.  It all depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a small time, it’s fairly light. If I hold it for an hour straight away, its weight might make my arm pain a little bit . If I hold it for a day straight, my arm will likely cramp up and feel completely numb and paralyzed, forcing me to drop the glass to the ground. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I will hold, the heavier it feels to me.’

When class nodded in agreement, she continued with the moral that, ‘Your stresses and difficulties in life are very much like this glass of water. So think about them for a while and nothing will happens. Think about them a bit longer and you begin to ache a little. Think about them all day long, and you will feel completely numb and paralyzed – incapable of doing anything else until you drop them.'”
